To keep going, or to give up, that is the question: Tennessee Highlighter Article

I was recently asked by the Tennessee Highlighter if I had any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up.

To keep going, or to give up, that is a great question! Right?! I know.

They wanted to include me in a “shoutout” series, which as they explained it is “all about recognizing our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others.”

I totally agree, and I was able to share who in my life has supported me along the way, and even dedicate the article to my high school mentor Mr. C. Thanks Mr. C!

But back to the first question about whether to keep on going, or to give up…

I actually find it extremely hard to give up on anything, and find it easier to keep going. I always have. I’m the most dedicated, loyal person, and love to work towards something and finish things. I don’t like giving up at all. Not just on projects I work on, or curiosities I’m following, but anything. It’s hard to give up.

I included the picture above of me by the big rocks because I started at the bottom of that cliff and climbed all the way up, one step at a time. It felt great to reach those rocks and to see how they are all balancing together. It was actually much harder than I anticipated to get to the top though. It was cold, windy and snowing. I didn’t exactly have the best hiking shoes on either. Oops.

I remember thinking, do we keep going up the cliff? Or have we gone far enough for today. We chose to keep going. I was with my husband. We went to Devils Lake in Wisconsin and hiked the bluffs, which we had never done before. Once we started we didn’t give up, and eventually we reached the top. But had I been alone that day, I’m not sure I would have kept going.

Being able to share in my experiences and journey has helped me to keep going. It’s one of the reasons why I love to write and send out Annie’s Adventure every other Friday. (become my pen pal here)

In the Shoutout article I share what led me to where I’m at today in my artistic and music journey, what I actually did give up on to get to where I’m at, and who I definitely want to give a shoutout to for nudging me to keep going.
